Dreaming of Darkness

Summary:

In the wake of a brutal assault, Addison and her gang of Misfits are left trying to pick up the pieces of their old selves.

Deciding that a change would do them all some good, they move across the country for a fresh start at a peaceful existence. However, it seems that nothing can completely rid them of the ghosts they thought they left behind. Addison doesn’t know how to keep her men together, not when they all seem to be fraying at the edges. One struggles to find purpose, sinking deeper into despair as the scars from the attack begin to fester and another pulls away, despite Addison’s attempts to keep them close. Strange behaviors abound. All the while, Piper is unraveling faster than they can piece him back together.

When the past refuses to die, and the future is shrouded in darkness, Addison and her men will be forced to face a set of daunting new challenges in the present.

Is the Black Widow’s bite strong enough to keep them together, or will whatever is lurking in the darkness succeed in tearing them apart?

My Thoughts:

Dreaming of Darkness is the next installment in the story about Addy and her 4 guys.

I enjoyed it! I love a good reverse harem and this group fits together like a glove! The guys are all special in their own ways, aside from their actual mysterious ‘special powers’, they all bring something to the table for Addy and their family unit.

Austin continues to be the one I am most intrigued about, there is just something primal about him that just hits right. Cain is the one I would pick, and sweet Piper and Wyatt are also wonderful. I am also super interested in learning more about Wyatt’s gift and how he deals with it, it is one of the more interesting ones! One of my favorite parts was the piercing scene (IYKYK) – so so so good!!

I personally don’t normally enjoy pregnancy tropes, but this story was enjoyable for me regardless. The depiction of depression and anxiety, and fear about not being safe was so well done! The twist and what ended up happening was super interesting as well.

I will be interested to see where the next book takes us in their story.

Dreaming of Darkness by Bella Reeves is book 2 of the Monsters in the Darkness series.

Is it worthy of a re-read? Let's get to reading and find out. If I love it I might start immediately over again...who knows? Genres: fantasy, romantasy, smut, sci-fi, dark romance, and more! I read on average 2-4 books per week, and average 150+ books per year. I am passionate about reading books and sharing my reviews and discussing books with like minded readers and friends. One of my favorite parts of reading a good book is mentally processing the contents and getting to share my thoughts about it both online and in person with those around me.
