My Summary
A princess with an adventurerโs spirit. A pirate with a kingโs obligations.
Marina has known for a long time that she doesnโt want the life her parents want for her, but when they announce her betrothal to the steady but dull captain of the guard, she reluctantly accepts her duty.
That is until an enemy siren is captured and presented to her father, and Marina canโt think of anything but amber eyes and wings.ย
In a twist of fate, Marina finds herself the prisoner of an enemy king in a plot to end a centuries-long war between their peoples that can only end in either death or heartbreak.ย
My Thoughts
BOSAS is a really interesting story about a Selkie and a Siren enemies to lovers pairing, and the story of their people’s history.
The FMC and MMC are wonderful, I loved reading about both of them and from each of their POV. Marina is snarky, wild and rebellious, and just wants to be free to explore. Caspian is a Siren pirate on the seas, and them meeting is no coincidence.
The story moves along at a good pace, not too much or too little information, and we really get to know them better.
I loved the kelpie’s and their side plot, it was a great avenue for Marina to grow. I also loved watching her be in the Nordhavn port – everything was described so well and reading about her excitement was so wonderful.
Overall, Ballad of Sea & Sky , book 1 in the Whispering Sea Duet by Madeline Eliot is a great romantasy, cozy, snarky read, and I loved it!
Read-worthy.
