Summary:
I’ll never let him catch me
The King of the North Pole was supposed to be an ally. He wasn’t supposed to burn my kingdom in the South Pole to the ground and destroy everything I knew and loved. As the new Queen, I’ll take my revenge no matter what it costs me.
But Nicholas, the immortal Saint, is far more powerful than I ever imagined. And when he flips the script on my assassination attempt, I find myself running through a frosty woods, trying to outrun and outsmart the vicious and brutal ruler.
Three Days. If I can evade him for just three days, he promises he’ll let me go. But if he catches me before midnight on Christmas day, then the only gift I’ll be finding under the tree is my worst nightmare:
A wedding dress.
My Thoughts:
Hunted in Holly is a dark twisted Christmas romance, and everything I need in the holidays.
Caroline, Queen of the South Pole, versus Nicholas, King/Immortal Saint of the North Pole, going head to head in a chase through his woods?? With the prize being either he dies or she marries him? How delicious.
The banter, tension, and hate bleeding into lust was captivating, and made me want to be the one being chased through the woods. I loved how ingenious Caroline was with her traps/hiding/escaping, and I loved Nicholas’ delight at having a small challenge while he hunted his prey/future wife. I loved the tidbit about the mistletoe towards the end! Great little twist that I wished she had figured out sooner.
I enjoyed this quick novella, I actually read it in the corner at a holiday party I was not enjoying and finished it that night before I fell asleep haha. It was so good!
I love a little twisted dark romance story, and a re-imagining of Santa as a handsome dark coded man named Nicholas is delightful for my dark loving soul.
I hope Leann writes more of these little holiday ones! I’d love a Halloween coded one and a valentines one!!
Overall, I loved Hunted in Holly by Leann Belle, and recommend it to those who like dark twisted re-imaginings of Santa!
Worthy of a re-read.
